“Painting with words, writing with paint” Alexandra Francoise is an artist from Frankfurt, Germany. Her multidisciplinary practise often involves the investigation of language, literally and figuratively. From the exploration of stories in letterforms to the most abstract expression of communication in the series ‘White Noise’. She is intrigued by the balance of order and chaos – some aspects are planned, some facilitate her intuitive and expressive modus operandi. In the late 1990s Alexandra became affiliated with German post-reunification street art, encounters that influence her work stylistically until today. Alexandra holds a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communications from Franklin University Switzerland, along with two Studio Art Awards for her achievements in painting. And a Master of Arts in Graphic Design from UAL: London College of Communication, specialising in typography and print-making — modernist forms, calligraphic strokes, deconstruction/reconstruction, and a monochromatic palette are recurring elements in her work. She lives and works in East London, an area known for its ever-changing urban canvas that forms one of the best collections of uncommissioned street art in the world. Her paintings have been exhibited throughout Europe, and are being held at Saatchi Art and internationally in private collections.
